Originally designed and created in 2019, the “SWORD’ MAGIC PLEATS DRESS was part of the “SANCTUARY: A digital craft’ Collection, shown in September 2019 at the ICA London.
 
The colour-changing print on the ‘Sword’ dress was developed following conversations between the designer and other women about their feminism and their childhood role models. The resulting print is influenced by legendary female figures as well as details of armour and weaponry inspired by childhood fantasies of powerful women and girls from history, fiction or computer games. Armour was referenced throughout this collection as a means of strengthening, protecting the wearer and for the deflection of unwanted gaze.
